Fireese was a signing baby and is now a signing toddler. She is just over two and still loves learning signs. We've always spelled kiwi with her (see my first video) and now at 2 she knows how to spell it :-)

Cute video!! However, it really bothers me when parents in general thinks it is okay for their hearing children to learn sign language but not for their Deaf children..

@Deaf258 I agree fully! Have you seen The Greatest Irony by Amy Cohen Efron? It talks about your concern exactly. I think all parents with hearing and Deaf children should watch it!

By the way, your video a year ago of Fireese at 11 months, is why I kept up with teaching my little one. You and Fireese single-handedly inspired us and now Cecily has 400 some signs and is learning her letters (knows about 1/2 of them) at 17 months. The ability to communicate with her at such a complete level so early is priceless, and your first little clip started it all.

I love this video and I always encourage parents to teach their children to sign so the child can communicate their needs. Parents with deaf children who won't teach their child how to sign are missing out on a lot. Keep up the great work!!!
