10K views? Seriously? For a trailer of a game that came out, what, at least ten years ago? It's still one of my favorites, though.
---
This is a movie I made to essentially entice one of my friends into playing Torment. I used the freeware version of Fraps to capture the video, and Windows Movie maker to put it together. Music taken from the Baldur's Gate Soundtrack.

  • Where did you get all the What can change the nature of a man sound files?

  • @JackOFBlades111 Ripped them straight out of the game. there's a lot of unused dialog files in there.

  • Am I right in thinking that a lot of the speech and video clips in this trailer don't appear in the final game? (Annah's bald joke, for example)

  • @Jinxyzzy The files themselves are actually in the game data, that's where I got them. They're just unused in the game itself.

  • is the music from PT or Baldur's gate?

I have the game in english but it would be hard for me to understand, is it possible to get french dialog rather than english one?

  • @simonsimon405 The music is from Baldur's Gate because I have the soundtrack for that from the Original Saga set, but not Torment's soundtrack.

And I'm pretty sure there was a European release at some point with French, among a few others, as available languages.

  • @Trinitao55 You can do it using NearInfinity (you must have the acm2wav converter in the same folder as NI).

Btw, does anyone here *know* where can I find a patch translating the language version of P:T to the original, English one?

  • I tried so hard but i cant open the .acm files...please someone help :(

  • @Ripley4994

I don't know if the sound files are in the language pack, sorry. I know you can get a lot of mod info in Spellhold Studio's forums (google it, it won't let me post a link)

  • @TheChiliDragon - I found one pack but it doesn't contain the characters' sound files. What is the name of the right pack - or where can I find it?

  • @Iconoclast12100

Actually, the Planescape Torment manual gives credit to FFVII as a source of inspiration. The creator Chris Avelone also said in an interview that he was a FFVII fan and that it influenced a few ideas in PST. These include the magic spells, character weapon types, amnesia plot device, Tifa & Aeris, the three incarnations, and the city of Midgar.

I think f4ckutube's point was perhaps that this shows JRPGs and WRPGs have a lot more in common than the fans would like to think.

There are language packs you can download and mod the game with. Just google for them, they're everywhere

  • This trailer is amazing! These voices! Sooo strong! and a game - best RPG ever
