  • @hillclimber440 Indeed ! The only thing that makes you fast is being fast. True training will make you stronger & faster, if you are fast... You either have technique or you don't. Peace x

  • soo i see the difference but what is the difference in performance? is one better than the other? is one more suited for certain situations?

  • ummm i dont see the difference.... can someone point it out to me?

  • epic calves

  • independent fab? nice

You can see he raises his right heel much higher at the ten o'clock position. The foot is parallel to the seat tube. In most ankling demonstrations, the heel will be much lower on the down stroke, going below parallel. That works well for short steep climbs, but it might lead to Achilles tendon problems if you are a rider with less than supple calves and connective tissue."Proper" is a bad choice of words, One specific technique is not best for every rider.

  • Interesting: near zero saddle to bar drop, lax head tube and low rake... I wonder how that handles.

  • Ironically, big calves don't make you fast.

  • @Legacysteve2469 I'm referring to the fact that he's pushing the pedal through 2 o'clock to 4 o'clock with his calves. The angle between his foot and tibia is increasing through 2 to 4. That's bad. It is the opposite of a "supple" stroke, as the Europeans put it. The angle should remain the same. The muscles from your knees to your abdomen should be doing the work, not your calves. He's pedaling too tightly.

  • well thank you for that
