  • Absolutely; the Lafayette Hotel is still there on St. Charles. This was shot from the reviewing stands across from Lafayette Square in front of Gallier Hall.

  • strange thing is , everyone in this video is most likely dead or very , very old . cool video , thanks .

  • in 1941 blacks werent Aloud to attend then which was sad

  • The theme for Rex that year was "Gems From The Arabian Nights". I've got downloads of Leda Hicks-Plauche's designs for that procession but they're all B/W wash drawings, so it's a treat to see this parade in colour.

  • Rex's colours were pastel, but the floats then seemed to be more artistic overall; more varied in shape and decoration than what you get today. Notice also how they're all single-decked and the riders (6-8) are standing right up on the top level of the carriage (minus whatever superstructure there is), with nothing to stop them from taking a fall onto the pavement.

  • Absolutely Incredible Video WOW!!!

  • So thats how they used to get down back in the day

  • i dont see no black peoople.lol thats messed up. my grandmother was probaly at the zulu club that day.lol

  • Very cool video!! How safe it must have been at that time huh?
