Please check out Peter Glossop's youngest daughter's show reel on youtube - search Rosie Glossop's Showreel - He was very proud of her voice and sadly missed out on her performances but he would be encouraging her now if he were here with us today! Rosie is now trying to find a good agent so if anyone reading has any contacts please get in touch and help Rosie to follow in her father's footsteps! Thanks ;-)
Being an opera singer and teacher myself, I hold the highest regard for your father's singing. I've only recently discovered him (Thank God) and am in awe. I've ordered his Otello film with Jon Vickers. I thank you for your father's talents and his sharing them with me even after he is gone.
whats wrong with yhe press in this country. I have just learned by chance that Peter Glossop passed away over 1 year ago but was never reported on the news or any newspapers. This man sang with the greatest opera singers in the world for decades.I am devastated to read about his passing away. Rest in peace Peter your voice will always give pleasure to the world of opera lovers
As it happens I rented this Cav-Pag DVD from NetFlix last week. I was favorably impressed once again with Glossop. I had heard him live many years ago. In this role he is very impressive dramatically.
The odd thing about Verdi baritones is how rare they are. Most men are baritones yet good tenors and basses seem to be more common than this type of baritone. Glossop like Louis Quilico and Mateo Manuguerra was very very good but never a real star. Pity. Tenors get paid more too.
Yes, I definitely preferred Peter Glossop to Milnes. The voice was better integrated from bottom to top. A true baritone sound with wonderful richness, color, and expression! Voices like this seem comparatively rare today.
Thanks to everybody for all their lovely messages - I really do feel grateful that his singing meant so much to people! Keep your eyes peeled for a tribute video I will be uploading this weekend - my mum created it and we played it at the wake. It is a collection of photo's throughout my dad's life accompanied by his beautiful voice - thanks again!! xx
