Subsequently Iain Sinclair turned up, mooching about & doing a piece to camera. It transpired that he'd got wind of the imminent destruction of Southport's treasured landmark and was drawing parallels with the destruction going on in parts of East London at the Olympics site. He intented to work it up as an ending to his latest novel - Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire (thrice plucked from the printers).
