  • oh my goodness that was really good! a few questions...how long have you been working on it, and how old are you? love how much force you use, by the way.that's something i'm not too good at in this piece...

  • Oh thanks :) at the time of this video? maybe i had been playing it for a couple months. i'm 18 now. i was 17 in the video.

  • You have command of the piece. Very commendable! It is a challenging piece. Even better, you have a solid emotional grasp of Skrijabin, which many do not. If your plan is to concertize, I beiieve you have what it takes. Would you divulge; how old you are?

I especially appreciate the position and movement of your hands as part of your technical command.

    Bravo, young man! Bravo!!!

  • hey, thanks for the comment. i'm 18 now.

  • Very nice man. and mature. only one thing: you fucked the chord before the last one, and some octaves in the bass before this. But 98% of what should be this etude you acomplished. Congradulations. i have recorded it too, I was 18 then. take a look if you like

  • reminds me of Scrjabin's performance of this piece. It's incredible. You have quite a career going for yourself sir. Godspeed. I love it more than most recordings.

  • Bravo!

  • Amazing performances !!!

  • Marvellous control. Very fine performance.

  • one last thing , i see you are using too much of your upper arms instead of the whole body weight to produce a much deeper and warmer tone. Same thing happen in your Islamey, you sounded very very good from the beginning and then your weight just started to disappear through out the whole piece, especially the left hand, if you continue to play with your upper arms like that , i think you would break your arms someday.

Well just some of my thoughts, hope they will give you some help :)

  • if you have to use that much efford for virtuosity?why dont put the efford into music more? why dont just take a careful read of the score, draw out the plan to make the right shape , the right tone, the right build up, it can save a lot of energy for you. I think you are much better than this, you have the technique, you have the control, the imagination, you can win over those virtuosity thing easily, playing fast and loud like a port is only for people who cant do it, but you can!

  • Also, sorry to say this :( but i couldnt really hear your bass line from 1:44,it just doesnt have enough weight or maybe its becaused of the recording quality?Your accelerando from 1:52 is absolutely superior, however, this is just what i think: i can see you are putting lots lots of efford in bring out Scriabin's fury in this climax, but really,to me,you re using those effords too much for the virtuosity,so loud and so fast,i cant even hear the pinky of the right hand and the chromatic bass line.

  • Superb performance!! Congratulation, Jeff,!!

Here are some of my thoughts about this beautiful performance:

The beginning is indeed, very very good, but i wasn't impressed much of your phrasing from 1:11, to me it just sounds no more than an exercise of octive, just listen carefully again those lines, u'll see what i meant. At 1:20 (this is just my personal suggestion) maybe you can try bring out another melody line from the left hand, instead of just playing fast and loud the right hand octive?

  • Great performance ! Only one thing: make sure you don't fall off your chair ;-)

  • I think it was great!!! Congratulations pal!!!

  • that's funny
