I did not spend too much time on this video (you can tell). It's more of an information video, rather than an attempt to win "Video of the Year" award :)
This video shows the fault on a HP Pavilion laptop. The laptop simply doesn't power up. No screen, no backlighting, not POST no boot. All you get is the blue LEDs lighting up, the fan starts, the DVD drive spins, then all LEDs go out and it cycles through the same process again and again. Same on battery or mains only.
Yes, I have tried the "reset" of holding down the power buttom for 1 minute and more, with no battery or mains connected. It didn't work this time, nor the previous other 2 times when HP had to replace the systembaord.
This laptop is over 2 years old. This is the 3rd time I have had this exact same fault. HP have replaced the systemboard twice before under warranty. Now they say I will have to pay to have it fixed (new systemboard is over £200).
Why should I pay for a new systemboard when they obviously never fixed it on the previous two occasions?
Why should I pay for a new systemboard that is only likely to last about 1 year?
I wonder if HP have any comments. They have had no constructive answers so far.
I publish this video for several reasons
1. To help others identify the fault.
2. To allow me to email the CIO of HP with this link, so he may see the fault himself.
3. To highlight the issue, which I know has affected many Pavilion DV6000 laptops
4. To allow comments to this video to see who else has the same problem.
5. Maybe HP will resolve the issue. Well, I can dream
I am very happy to see the vidoe from you, hopefully the others also are happy for You It's more of an information video, rather than an attempt to win "Video of the Year

Had a similar laptop. It survived a drop and 3 years of abuse. Guess its just about how lucky you are, if your not lucky you'll get a lemon.

I have a Hp dv6000. One post said the truth! My personal like is the Apple Computers there the best, top dollar top service. All my other computers are HP though. Only one Apple in the house but its an Ipad which is great. I have the same problem with dv6000 model but when I start the computer up I keep tapping the esc button till the screen come up then stop! Always seems to work for us hope that helps.
