WHEN YOU CONNECT THE SHORT 1/4 TO 1/4 ..? WHAT R YOU TRYING TO DO THERE?

@okeylang47 the amp has a thru feature which allow both channels to be driven with one signal, you use a short patch cable to connect the thru output to the combo xlr/phone input of the other channel.

Issues as to why some things do not work together, yamaha amp may be +3 positive and grounds pin 2 on quasi balanced input, I have had problems with older gear that was not a truly balanced input/output, manufacturers play games trying to make equipment look like it is balanced to save money, Mackie, Soundtech, Yamaha, Peavey are all guilty of it, if you do not have good quality isolation transformers in your audio gear you're not really in the sound biz yet. I just got IPR3000s, no 6Ks yet.

Journey tune is I will be alright without you, cool old song, speaker cables are 12 gauge quad wire, yep just using a camera, did not know it would make movies when I bought it, Iam real old school, early IPRs had issues, a vendor in China used the wrong capacitor, if you are going to make these things work hard at 2 ohms on both channels, get something else, there is a reason some things cost less than others, personally I would perfer all my electronics be made in the USA, but we are cheap.

@russellnc how old of models are we talking about? i'm looking to buy one within the week, would help to know what year they fixed it. thanks a billion

@NagrusD4Prez , the problem the IPR 1600 had was that it would shut down improperly, that issue has been fixed, all amps shipping currently should work, the second issue with the 1600 is that it is too sensitive, why it was built that way I do not know, you need to reduce the gains on the inputs to 10 or 11 o'clock to work with the outputs of most pro mixers, I have seen other companies pull the same trick, on makes you think the amp is louder, but you just hit the limiters sooner.
