  • Hey Sifu Garry,

Its London Wing Chun here, I just wanted to congratulate you on your work and efforts, Wing Chun needs to step up and practically compete against other styles. I have recently been cross training in Muay Thai and its a real challenge getting used to not being able to trap hands, pak sau, or tan sau whilst wearing those big boxing gloves. I extend huge respect to your school, your teachings and your student who competed.

    All the best

    London Wing Chun

  • Thanks for the constructive comments.

  • i think the one in black shorts and blue head guard is the wing chun practiner am i right?

  • yes, you are right - his name is luke anderson

    cheers

  • How is that in any way wing chun? wtf was that?

  • My fighter is a wing chun practitioner competing against a muay thai fighter. Obviously, many wing chun techniques go out the window when wearing gloves and confined by rules. Full contact fighting in China is called "Sando"

At least I can boast about having wing chun students competing in full contact fights. My goal is to boast a full contact world champion

  • No wing chun defined as economy of motion and conserving of energy in this clip...

No use of centerline principles, no interception of opponents intent - generally what I see here is two kickboxers doing kickboxing - and thats all fine! :)

  • this isn't Wing Chun....but the guys fight well

  • Amaters but okay!!!!

  • I expected to see at least a punch chain... the footwork of the wing chun fighter was fine but not explosive, I think because of the duration a the fight and all that stuff on their legs and hands.

    Good full contact fight!!!

  • Much respect to you and your student. At least your students get in the ring and fight.

  • With the gloves on, you just have boxing, kick boxing.. It sees Wing Chun is better geared for sudden attacks in the street. However, if someone attacking you is prepared to fight and pulls his punches, you won't be able to perform clean wing chun techniques anyway. You'll need to drive in with continuous strikes.
