"Q: You were actually on 'American Idol' a couple of years ago.
BJA: We played [John Lennon's] 'Working Class Hero.' It was interesting because we had the "F" word and their show is live, so we had to pre-record our song so that they could bleep out the "F" words. We almost got thrown off the show before it even started because they didn't trust us. It's like, "Man, we've done [live TV] so many times. We can do this." And finally they're like, "OK, you guys have to record it before." So we played to a completely empty room."
Green Day performing their cover of John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' on American Idol, 5/23/07. Being a Green Day fan, I can't believe I missed this lol.

Srsly ppl to those of u bitching about how green day isn't working class, this song was done for a charity project to stop Darfur and all that horrible shit they covered that song to pass on the message not to brag about their humble beginnings or whatever else you're nagging about. I love em and this covers great so I've made my point Jesus u haters never shut up
you knwo I don't really like greenday, but this kinda makes me respect them.
Most muscians cover Beatles songs for their own self-fish reasons and sometimes ruin the song. But you can tell greenday's simply passing on the message :]
John would be glad with this cover. And Green Day liked the song cause it's mentioned in their 21st century breakdown... RIP John... I'll play this song in december 8th.
@FILTHYFAKE Actually, I believe that it is "be-uh", though I can see were you might have gotten the "beer". I think that kind of makes it sound a little better than if they had cut off at the -e, but that's just me. *shrugs* I like the cover, personally, so yeah. XP Everybody has their opinion. *nods*
Yet I bet noone really took the message in. While watching this when it was on, attending that show or not. Its just how braindead many are these days.
