A·28 year-old female has died after drowning in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs this afternoon.

It's understood she was taking part in a diving course when she was reported missing by other divers. She was rescued from the harbour and found to be unconscious.

Paramedics supported by the NSW Police worked diligently in an attempt to save her life.

An ambulance spokeswoman stated that "she experienced some type of emergency".

The cause of her death is considered a mystery and medical factors·are a possibility.

Police will examine the scuba diving equipment used by the young woman.

Police are investigating the cause of the death and the case has been referred to the Coroner.

The·young female was an overseas visitor to Australia.

  • EDITOR COMMENT: It must be said that the Rose Bay Police, Paramedics and Dive Partners worked extremely hard to save the young ladies life. Their efforts and dedication was nothing short of amazing.

  • That poor women its really upsetting seeing things like this im an open water diver i just passed yesterday and sometimes i wonder if i could be unlucky enough for this to happen to me even how low the chances are
