@PotatoOfRa What you're overlooking is that no nuclear power so far has been Muslim fundamentalist. The Soviet Union was a bloody dicatorship, but since they were atheists intending to live their lives on Earth they could be deterred by the threat of nuclear retaliation.
Iran would represent the first Muslim fuundamentalist power, and given how Muslim fundamentalists have been willing to suicide bomb as they expect 72 virgins in paradise in the after life that represents a unique threat.

@smik4978 according to your logic, the threat of nuclear weapons does not exist from anyone except the United States - no one else has EVER used their nukes against anyone. Iran might be interested in taking over the world, if all the other major powers weren't far superior and already looking for excuses to attack iran. Iran is currently the very least likely to start a fight, but the most likely to get into one. If Iran had nukes, it would give them a means for suicide, and they know.
