And, the rest of my look at the Acela set. I would definitely recommend getting this set if you can get it, purely on its beautiful detail, paint job, and smooth running. Even if modern trains aren't usually your favourite, this could be the one for you... However, they are getting hard to find now. I searched for this one for the better part of a year. Then, as a nice partner train, you can get the Acela HHP-8 engine, and some Amfleet cars to go with it.

  • where did u get most of ur trains and the acela is really awsome so u got it on ebay

  • @cwlegoboy Thanks! I actually got most of my trains from either shows or shops to begin with, but I have to say, during the last 5 years, I've been predominantly buying off eBay and internet shops. I've found the prices more competitive for the trains, but for track and controllers etc, I always give good business to my local shop!

  • in a hobby shop here in california i seen it in set with track and controller it was 440 dollars

  • @TomyTrackmastertrain wow, thats a lot! I got mine on eBay for $175. It was an old set, but worth it at that price with the track and controller. The new ones have better lights installed, I think - LEDs rather than incandescent bulbs (which don't show up much through the tinted windows!)

  • Can the regular knuckle coupler work on the acela cars?

  • @TEMPLE7D You can use them - you would have to install them specially. Plus, since the cars tilt, the angle might change enough on corners for the couplers to come undone. The current coupler stick-things don't look great, but they keep the cars close together, and I've never had a problem so far.

  • I think you should combine the two trains.

  • The HO set is still on sale and manufactured, available for $500. The O scale version is not available anymore.

  • what gauge is it

  • Hey man great layout, like the vid, i found that set on Model train stuff.com , with trak and controller 250

  • the store I usually get US models does have the motor cars in stock, and is able to profide the cars as well, but only the motor cars are about 159.90 € (US$229,90).

so I can find it, just can't afford it...-_-
