Why is the vote for an Arms Trade Treaty so important? Former Chief of Operations for the African Union Mission in Sudan, Lt Colonel John Ochai, explains.
this is somehow misleading. The upcoming vote is for a general assembly resolution on "ATT". the GA resolution is a political resolution and not legally binding resolution.
It has no impact, whatsoever, with the ongoing conflict in sudan. It only wil have impact, if the resolution could encourage work on the making of a treaty on arms transfer which is so distance.
Luckily the US will always veto such utter nonsense! As no nation, who gained her independence by private gun-ownership and open rebellion [plus a little help from Englands old detractors Spain and France] would ever vote on any international treaty aimed at private weapons; in any other chase things would look pretty grim: As France and Britain have neither the will nor the power to stop this madness, while China and Russia do not care about UN decisions anyway.

What makes you think that the illegal gun traders will abide by the UN regulations?
