500 HP BMW M5 Test Drive Part 2

Ok, now it's my turn behind the wheel. Amazing power, but absolutely awful SMG 7-speed transmission compared to the DCT in the E92 M3.

I also wasn't thrilled with the steering feel. It's nearly as muted as the S5 that we drove last week. I'm really not liking the whole variable-assist steering trend.

Overall, it's a monster, but she's got some "junk in the trunk" that ultimately limits the handling and feel you get behind the wheel.

The SMG can shift much faster than it is in this video. The sixth shift speed, which is the fastest, can only be activated when the traction control is off. I rode in an E60 M5, and it will easily light up the rear tires on the 1-2 shift.

@mainlymusicman Yea after looking at the specs last night i guess getting the e60 and saving some cash for a gas card will justify buying one lol

@secretpolice yeah , have you see the released specs of the F10 on m5board? really dissappointing. a measly 5 hp more than the X5M and X6M!! only 560 hp.. and 0-60 time of 4.4 sec!! hell the present m5 can do that... hopeflully there not true, and it will have at least 585 hp... basicly if its not beating the cts-v's 0-60 time of 3.9 sec . im not getting one.

@ceyhan49 lol are you kidding?, this is one of the worst cars on the planet for fuel efficiency... i get 7-9 mpg in the city.
