A Commodore 64 programming tutorial, with simple programs. The video is captured from an emulator, and there is an explanitory voice over. Good for first time programmers or retro computer enthusiasts.

  • Just come across you tutorial. Well done! I used to have a heap of books that told me this kind of stuff back in the day, god knows where they are now though. I hope to see plenty more tutorials!

  • @srbclarke Hi, thank you for your praise & encouragement. I'll try to make a new video soon. -Rudi

  • I made a new C64 video. To see it click on "rudihorne" near the top of this page and browse to it.

  • Would i love to get my hands on this and learn some classic code like this :). C++ and some java is all i know.

  • @bigs8888 It's good to hear from someone interested in 8-bit programming but with only contemporary language knowledge. At university, C and Java are popular these days but it's completely different with an early micro. Most early microcomputers had BASIC in one form or another. As far as learning goes, there are second hand books specifically written about BASIC on the C64.

  • If you write ? its the same like PRINT

  • @Kjubie100 OK, yes. There wasn't any shorthand code in the video this time, maybe next time.

  • I wish I was born in the 70's or 80's so I would have learned with these early languages. I hear many game programmers started with these and easily learned modern languages when they were created.

  • @bigs8888 "C++ and some java is all i know."

There's a C Compiler for the C64, among others. Just Google for Commodore 64 compilers. Lyonlabs has disk images and original manuals in .pdf format.

  • I guess I'm brain damaged then. =P
