well maybe back then. but they did a show on Woodstock now and then,

had a interview with him,
talking about him being the first to play cause Sweet water was stuck in traffic. so they ask him to play,

when he did the tuning in the being and Thur out he was stalling to play more song, he went off stage 6 times they told him to go back.  : )

This is so inspiring, I would probably pass out if I was there.

I was not at woodstock. I had just graduated high school and was getting ready to go to University of Ga. in the fall, but everytime Richie Havens came to Atlanta to play during the 70s I went to see him. I saw him several times live during the 70s and he was awesome always and one of my favorites of all time. He rarely played without breaking a string he played so hard on that 12 string...lol..
