In January 2008, a SHARK investigator caught the Denver Rodeo shocking horses and committing other abuses. The video evidence was submitted to Marriott headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Marriott management assured SHARK that there would be no more rodeo sponsorships. The company lied. Now they'll never be trusted again, and will be the target of a very long campaign.

It's bad enough to sponsor animal abuse to begin with. It is even lower to claim to quit, while continuing to support cruelty. Marriott Hotels has earned the dubious distinction of the lowest of the corporate low, along with Dodge Trucks, Coca-Cola and Southwest Airlines. See more info on Marriott Hotels and other unethical companies at www.CorporateThugs.com.
Marriott wisely chose not to sully its reputation by sponsoring animal abuse.

  • I believe your talking about a hot-shot? I know kids who play with those and end up shocking there selves. Haha. In my opinion theyre not that bad. Normally we use them on the cattle in the roping shoot. But thats just my opinion.

  • LoveKali96: Using prods in the chutes, unless the animals stalls and poses an injurious danger is against most rodeo associations' rules, including the PRCA.

Therefore, normally, you are violating rodeo humane welfare rules.

  • fils de putes !!!!!!!!

  • and we only use them when stuck

  • We don't use them on horses. Ever. But ours aren't high voltage or anything like that. They can barely feel them. I know little kids who shocked there selves with it and laughed.

  • jpf58: The difference is you're allowed to recover, you're not sent to slaughter.

  • jpf58: We pay what's needed in order to expose the cruelty.

  • The injuries. How fast do they recover from them? I know I get Injuries almost every day. But I recover fairly quickly.

  • Ya but if you go to 10 rodeos a year. that's 100 dollars if a ticket costs 10 bucks. Now the Western Stock show you've got to pay $10 Dollars a person just to get onto the grounds per day, and anywhere from $8 to $20 to see a rodeo per person per night.

  • jqf58: The exposure of cruelty is worth far more than the pittance of an admission ticket.

As for the calves getting up afterwards, no, not all of them do, and many that do have injuries.
