Usually, the runner-up of a season with a number that leaves a remainder of 2 when divided by 3 is more successful than his or her winning counterpart. Clay Aiken has been more successful than Ruben Studdard. Katharine McPhee has been more successful than Taylor Hicks (but not as successful Chris Daughtry). Adam Lambert has been more successful than Kris Allen. The same will be true for season 11's top 2.

The winner of American Idol season 12 will not be a White guy with a guitar. Season 12 has already come down to an all-female top 5, who are my season 12 favorite Amber Holcomb, R&B singer Candice Glover, CCM singer Angie Miller, country-blues singer Kree Harrison, and traditional country singer Janelle Arthur. None of these girls hold a candle to Jessica Sanchez.

Phillip Phillips is one in ten. Colton Dixon is one in a hundred. Skylar Laine is one in a thousand. Joshua Ledet is one in a million. Jessica Sanchez is one in a billion.

Jessica Sanchez is a tall-order artist, and Phillip Phillips is a short-order artist. Any future American Idol contestant can sing Phillip's songs so well, because they were written with his one-octave range in mind, and make it straight through to the next week in the competition. Jessica's songs are difficult to belt out, and any future American Idol contestant singing her songs will be in danger of getting eliminated.
