The Supreme Court ruling that allows property to be taken for private use is nothing short of criminal, IMO. It is nothing short of fascism. There is no way in hell that anyone can believe that was the intent of the takings clause.

One elderly man who was holding out swearing he would not leave and that he intended on dying in his home was found dead in his home few weeks later, he suffered a heart attack. I do agree with you that it is better than each state having different laws.

I am reminded of an incident here in Green Bay when they rebuilt The Packers stadium, a developer decided that a few blocks of homes would be better used as a parking lot for the newly rebuilt stadium, most of these people were of retirement age and it was not a sellers market, the fair market value was way below what some of these people owed.
What about the Fifth Amendment, the right of eminent domain, (Latin for supreme lordship) (The Takings Clause) which states that the government has the right to take your property if they decide that there is better use for it, and gives rights for the police to enter and seize your property.

Those are, essentially, the property rights and their protections. Property can only be taken with due process. Eminent domain is that property can be taken for a public purpose.
Now, of course, there is a ridiculous Supreme Court opinion which extends eminent domain even to private uses. Insanity.
