Although I still like riding thru Port Jeff .... Port Jeff Class of 64, my roots are from the 50's 60's and it was really a wonderful place to go back then... walk thru the town and look into the shops, go up to Grammas' for a homemade ice cream cone ... walk along the docks... .... but somewhere in the late 60's early 70's they turned it into a tourist trap.... what a shame.....
Awesome Video. I was born in St. Charles hospital. I also have been working on one of the fishing boats out of port for the past 5 years. Port Jeff is a great town with an endless amount of history
Thank you for this slideshow- I grew up in PJS and spent many nights "down port" and many days working at the Port Jeff Ferry- It was great to see that many of my favorite scenes are still there!
PJ is one of the few places on LI that has some sort of character/charm. Perhaps this is because of the docks and sense of history + its one of the few places in the states were you can still find non corporate/chain stores..I lived there many years ago and loved it as a teenager, especially on Sat summer evenings were all the girls used to come out but theres so much of strolling you can do on main street! Costa Espan restaurant, now that was a nice little restaurant..
I was born in St. Charles Hospital in 1977, grew up on South Setauket, and currently live in Smithtown. I thank you for this video because it is hard to see the beauty when you have lived there your whole life.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm in Romania now (don't ask why...I have no idea) and I miss Long Island and the Port Jefferson area SO MUCH!! MULTUMESC FOARTE MULT!!

I've been there. Port Jeff and Port Jeff Station are a fine destinations on the Island. Roots run deep there.
