@bingflop they made a lightsaber for Qui Gon Jin after Ewan chose this one so that they would look the same. This is because Padawans often create their first lightsaber based on their masters, as a show of respect.

@bingflop No, they have similar lightsaber hilts though. I know this because I looked at Star Wars wiki. It was a sign of respect and somewhat of a Jedi tradition for a Padawan to base their lightsaber hilt design off of their masters' hilt. Anakin Skywalker was one of the Jedi who did do this, as his lightsaber hilt was vastly different to Obi-Wan's.

Also, note that anakin's saber from Ep III is supposed to be the very same Obi-Wan passed on to Luke: it's not! Some details make it an entirely different saber! So you have the Anakin Ep III and the Anakin/Luke from Ep IV.. and what about Mace Windu? A saber in Ep I and another in II and III. And Darth Maul's saberstaff? you can buy 1 battle damaged half or both and assemble them to make the saberstaff! Merchandising
