how do u smudge the shading...finger,eraser..i use cotton but not on charcoal cause im just am amatuer..can u help me ? im bad in shading pls rply

When he is putting the highlights back in (starting about 2:22) is he using white chalk or an eraser? Kind of hard to tell with the vid quality. Brilliant work BTW.

Yes its a charcoal pencil and compressed charcoal is a pain to use. First it feels nasty...really scratch when making marks. Second its difficult to get light value from just marking alone.
