My friend, I agree totally. But my point is that a team does not have to be a complete worldbeater in order to be a great team.

As you said yourself, there are 5-6 teams of very high level in the world that have the potential to beat each other or lose from each other.

I honestly believe that Greece is among those teams, I think it's only fair to give them this credit. Peace! :)

I am actually agreeing with you. I didn't pay them the respect they deserve in my first post. I just don't see them as a worldbeater. That's all. I think that international basketball has come very close to parity among the elite: USA, Spain, Argentina and the other teams beneath them are also much closer to each other. I prefer this way, because now the US team has to EARN the gold rather than show up and accept it. I can appreciate good competition where ever it may come from.

OK mate, I'm going to argue about the obvious. The simple fact is that this "little" team has beaten some of the best teams in the world on several occasions, over a timespan of half a decade. If you prefer to call this "sneak up and upset", have it your way.

However, an upset that happens again and again, suddenly seems nothing like luck to me.

No you're right, they are kinda like the Atlanta Hawks of world competition. Not good enough to win it all but can sneak up on a superior team and upset them.

The fact that USA beat Greece in Beijing is a different story. USA clearly has several fantastic players and the most muscular and athletic team (plus no antidoping controls at all). However, Greece is NOT a little team and its constistency in major tournaments proves that.
