I wonder if the interviewer's question about "fin de siecle" inspired the lyrics in West of Hollywood about "Anne de Siecle". I suppose that's a long shot, but it may have been unconscious as it seems like a very unusual phrase.

@BttfJunkie1 It's a photo of Fagen himself disguised to look like an artist from 1920's Weimar. It's a joke photo for a joke piece he wrote back in 1988 called "Tell Blondie To Break Out The Ice ". Most people probably wouldn't get it - it's probably a deliberately obscure reference thrown in by reginaldmaplethorp for the most devout Fagen admirers.
