There was a moment of silence.
- Hey. Did you ever notice funeral has the word fun in it. But theyre not fun. Not at all.- Ivy said.
I couldnt help but laugh at little. It felt good. To laugh that is. I havent done it in three days.
- Thats ironic.- I agreed.
- Girls,-
We looked up to see Karen standing in front of us.
- Karen! Oh, Karen!.- Ivy said and stood up and hugged her.
- Thanks, sweetie.- Karen hugged her back. She looked at me with her red, puffy eyes that matched her hair.
- Karen, I know you are most likely getting tired of hearing this, but im so sorry.- I said.
She hugged me.
- Thanks, angel.- She let go and looked at the two of us.
- I love you girls, you know that? You two were so close to Penny. Youre like daughters to me. Dont be afraid to stop by anytime. You hear me?-
- Of course. We will.- I said.
- We cant stay away from youre amazing cooking for too long.- Ivy said.
Karen smiled. It looked like it took a lot of effort.
- Thanks. So, everyone is pretty much leaving now. You girls should go, you look so tired.-
- We are.- I admitted.
- Go home.- She rubbed my shoulder.
- Are you sure? Because we can stay if you want. Believe me, Im in no rush to get home.- I said, feeling the truth in my words.
- No. Go home. Ivy, youre parents are leaving now. And Ela youre parents already walked back to your house. You should go. They might get worried.- Karen said.
- I doubt it.- I muttered so no one could here me.
- Okay. Bye Karen.- Ivy said and we both hugged her. She walked away, to say goodbye to someone else.
- See you tomorrow!- I called after her.
She turned and smiled at me, a smile carrying so much pain.
Ivy turned to me and hugged me.
- Ill call you tonight.- She said.
- Okay.-
- See you tomorrow.-
She walked off to go follow her parents out the door.
I sighed and walked back to my house. When I entered only Frankie was downstairs.
- Hi Frankie.- I said.
- Oh. Hi.- He said then turned his attention back to Power Rangers.
- When did you guys get home?- I asked.
- About an hour ago.- She said without even looking at me.
I sat down on the couch also. We both sat there without conversation for a few minutes. Suddenly Frankie turned to me and said.
- Does it suck that youre best friend is dead?- He asked.
It was like a storm that just ended powering full blow back up again. Tear swelled in the back of me eyes and my nose clogged up. I got up and ran to my room and shut my door. I began crying all over again, until I slowly fell asleep.
