This is a robust palm that can grow up to 15m tall.
This palm is native to the southern part of Texas, the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.And its mostly seen growing in drier lowlands having rich soil.The petioles of the Texas palm are smooth and completely thornless.
The leaves are used for thatching and making straw hats.The drupes and palm hearts are eaten.The wood is resistant to decomposition and shipworms, making it desirable for use in warf pilings and fence posts.
