NOTE: To everybody saying this isn't from Symantec, but is from some other company pretending to be Symantec: This part of this video shows the digital signature verification of the program, demonstrating that it is, indeed, from Symantec.
Second of two video segments showing a serious problem with false positives in Norton PC Checkup.
It's encouraging you to buy Norton 360, which will supposedly clean all these infections off, but the infections are not there to begin with.
This is the modus operandi of various rogue antivirus/antispyware companies. Get a scanner on your machine, report plenty of infections that aren't really there, then charge you for the cleaner. All the cleaner does is turn off the warning from the scanner.
Now, apparently, Symantec has decided to use the same sleazy marketing tactics to sell their software.
This video starts just before the end of the scan, shows the results, and demonstrates why at least some of them are false positives

@cbiltcliffe its okay, can we talk about Norton 2012 now?We are at 2012 year and this video is old about 2-3 years..

@thepredatorwinner I no longer have the executable. It has been nearly 3 years, after all.
I don't remember whether I uploaded this specific one to VirusTotal or not. I probably did, but I deal with so much of this crap that I can't remember what the results were from so long ago.
But either way, it exhibited rogue behaviour. Whether it's detected by any other A/V or not is irrelevant at that point, and the digital sig demostrates where the behaviour comes from.

@cbiltcliffe Can you scan that rogue with all antiviruses and antimalware scanners? On virtual machine...And I cant find that application on Norton.Oh and im stupid that this video is on 2009...The discussion of that "rogue" already should ended. Now we got 2012.And we talk about Norton 2012 and not 2009.Dont ya agree!?

@thepredatorwinner No Skype. Viewers need to see these comments, too.
Yes, malicious. When a false positive is detected in an uninfected file, it can be accidental. When a false positive is detected in a file that doesn't even exist, it has to be malicious. This isn't a heuristics bug, it's a flat out lie.
You tell me that if MBAM/Avast doesn't detect it, it's not rogue, then say they don't detect 100%. Which is it? Can't be both.
This is about Norton, not AVG PC tuneup.

@cbiltcliffe Skype? So we can easily talk instead always comments bro...
thepredatorwinner 2 weeks ago
@cbiltcliffe it doesnt have to meant that "rogue" has intentional (malicious?are you serious?) false positives promotes a paid product and you call it rogue?Oh, try the "rogue" AVG PC TUNEUP 2012 and we will see which of them is same.Do you want to say that Norton products are not rogue or Symantec not rogue.?I have learned that PC anywhere is rogue because made by hackers(Stole Symantec codes for PC Anywhere)Avast can NOT find 100% viruses.MBAM can 85% find viruses....Do you have..
thepredatorwinner 2 weeks ago
@thepredatorwinner I don't have the installer. Never did. Did you even watch the video?
Doesn't prove it's a rogue? We've already been through this. Let's see:
Intentional, malicious false positives + promotes a paid product = rogue.
You've seen all that, yet still stubbornly claim that it's not rogue because it's Symantec/Norton.
You trust MBAM/Avast to find 100% of viruses. That just shows how amateurish you are.

@cbiltcliffe you missed for 1 day.Where have you been lost?Oh nvm ^^
Yeah some avast fan starting hating other av and call them as "rogue" (like you maybe?)I understand wHAT you are saying but this video is unproof that it is "rogue"...You should SCAN the installer with Avast! or MBAM...
thepredatorwinner 2 weeks ago
@thepredatorwinner Yet, still no counter to the digital signatures point. Clueless.
And now I'm not allowed to have my own opinion? "stop your fan of someones antivirus like avast"? Really? Now you're giving me grief for thinking for myself?
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Ever heard that?
That's where you are right now. I'm so far ahead of you, that you don't even understand what I'm saying.

@cbiltcliffe last proof:Go contact for real symantec(Video proof) and scan the "rogue"with MBAM.If it has viruses the application then it is rogue from Symantec if it hasnt virus then it is NOT ROGUE and stop your fan of someones antivirus like avast!
