1990s Music Videos: Youtube is full of compilation and 'best-of' videos - but they're either chart heavy or suspiciously lack authenticity. It's easy to buy a 90s hits compilation and assume that's what everyone was listening to, but chart sales tell you little about who really influenced.
These four videos represent an alternative. A summary of what people were listening to in the UK. Either through album sales, in the clubs, at gigs; or groups that influenced others who came later. In other words - the 90s music videos worth remembering!

1990-1992 - What was happening? The 1990 World Cup in Italy began, the Leaning Tower of Pisa was closed for repairs, Iraq invaded Kuwait leading to the Gulf War, Germany is reunified and Tim Berners Lee creates the first page on the World Wide Web. Columbia carries Spacelab into orbit shortly after Operation Desert Storm. The Soviet Union is in disarray as Gorbachev is put under house arrest. Boris Yeltsin climbs aboard a tank thrusting his open hand towards the occupants and somehow, the Soviet Union steadily dissolves from this point. Robert Maxwell jumps overboard and his body is apparently recovered - though no-one believes it. An IRA bomb explodes in the City of London, destroying the Baltic Exchange (the Gherkin is built later, on top of the old site).

@dorontsur - it's a mashup of other videos on Youtube, rather than capture, so you're constrained by the quality of the source material. It's not ideal, but it was toss-up - lower quality/more choice - versus - high quality/less choice. The 'more choice' won. Ta for the comment.
