I'm going to start eating as few preservatives, processed foods, and high fructose corn syrup as possible. After three and a half months, it's time to take it to the next level... and I'm ready.

  • how do you feel about hat new commerical that says Corn syrup is just another version of sugar? are you still against it? Just curious

  • Yes, still vehemently against it. HFCS is poison.

  • That woman chemist was not quite accurate.

    In order to keep shelf life, and to provide things like "mouth feel", many foods contain lots of substances other than naturally-occuring fats, carbs, and proteins. It is THESE substances that may be mis-recognized by the body. Depending on the food, you could have more or less of these in it. E.g., margarine is a "trans" fat, which is basically a chemical modification of vegetable oil so that it will be solid at room temperature. BAD.

  • Thanks for articulating that :D The woman was Polish and difficult to understand, but she was brilliant at her job. I may have just misunderstood her, or it was lost in translation a bit :)

    I'm avoiding basically anything processed, so that should cover it for now - I think :D
