Hi Everyone! The procedure went really well, I just wanted to make a note here regarding some things I didn't mention in the video. When I got home I did have a reaction to the anestesia, with intense tachycardia (heart rate reaching 140 bpm). It felt very intense, where I could not lay down and had to pace around and try to breathe. I called my Doctor, and he explained that it was (insert technical term here) the anestesia having a "second wind" and not leaving my body yet. So technically, at this point, I was still not out of anestesia! He offered me to go to the ER for beta blockers and benzos, but I have a benzo at home for tachycardia so I took that and felt better with in about 45 minutes. In total this went on for about two hours. I was hesitant to say this at first, but I want to make sure I share all information. Even with the tachycardia, I truly would do this procedure again. I really did feel great the next day (I mean, better than I do on an average day!) and I truly feel (and the doctor agrees) that if they kept me longer to rest with my low BP (90/52 when sitting in a chair after surgery) I might not have had this reaction.

So, if you have this procedure, make sure you speak up, and make sure your BP is balanced out (as much as possible) before you leave. I'd also recommend requesting a benzo to be given to you while you're under (my doctor said next time I go under, this is what they're do) so you will be less likely to have tachycardia later. Also, I used propofol and oxygen, and I would still use it again, but even thought it worked for me, I want to note that it might not work as well for everyone. We all have different bodies that react differently, I was just trying to give the best advice based on my experience. Also, be sure to research what anestesia they will be giving you. Propofol shouldn't be given to individuals who have egg allergies (I found this out later). So, notify your Dr if you have an allergy, and they might work around it or give you something different. I do have an egg allergy (GI reaction vs anaphylaxis reaction) so that may have also played a part in the tachycardia.

It still was a great experience that I would definitely do again. If you have any questions please message me anytime. Thanks! Thoughts and prayers for you always
xoxo Laura

  • @piggypanda10 Hi! I know it's scary, and I'm sorry you're feeling that way. Remember to communicate with your Dr and tell him how you are feeling as well as your anestisiologist. You can ask them to give you anti nausea meds, and you can ask them questions. Don't forget, they do this all the time. Please let me know how it went, I'm thinking of you! I think you will be just fine. Keep me updated!

  • what did you get it for? just the tachycardia?

  • Hey What was your problem???? Heartburn?

  • Well, over here we do endoscopy, awaken, no anasthetics, no oxigen tube on your nose lol. It doesn´t hurt, but its unconfortable as shit, you feel like vomiting, but you can, you feel the saliva building up in your mount but you can´t do nothing, you can´t swallow, can´t spit it up, you feel completly powerless while trying to relax at the same time so the damn tube can go down your throat. And yes, you vomit like crazy once its over. Where pretty hardcore over here :P

  • Thanks and everything was, fine, except that the lady who did my ivey missed the, vane and had to take it a lil out and started to fish around anf my heart, rate went up to 140

  • @T4Tyson I'm so sorry to hear this! Glad you are okay now, but that must have been awful.
