Martin McGuinness telling reporters in 1985 that armed resistance to British rule will bring about a united Ireland not Sinn Féin's political mandate.
In 2009, standing alongside the head of the British police in Ireland, he told reporters that Irish Republicans were "Traitors" for using armed resistance to oppose British rule in Ireland.
fuck this united ireland notion you all have in your head. patriotism is the stupidest concept known to man. a country is only ever as good as those who run it. it doesnt take an economist to look at the state irelands in and conclude that the quality of life would be shit for everyone if 2 million people were added to it. Forget about flags and national identities, live life and just be thankful youre alive today and not centuries ago when a separation from britain was actually necessary! C+P

Eamon de valera said the same thing. Before he became preident. Not that Martin McGuinness becoming president would bring unity either. That can only come by consent as we all well know. Jaw Jaw is better than war war as John Hume said.
