How to use Logic to create MIDI track to control your MIDI devices. This is very cool as you can set up your guitar rig to automatically change presets at the right point in the song without having to touch anything.

In this video I use the Axe FX Ultra for my U2 Cover of The Electric Co.

This will work with anything that uses a MIDI foot controller etc.

  • Thank you man!! Very useful for me.

  • @epade Cool! Would love to hear how you use it? I personally export the MIDI track and then use it in Ableton along with a click track for the song. Works great! I did a live cover of Beautiful day and didn't have to push a single button!

  • Good stuff Matthew; could Logic Express do the same trick?

  • @Stevenafoe Yes I believe you can do this with Express, I've not used it. But someone else has told me they were able to do the same with Express! Good Luck! Feel free to subscribe to my videos! I am working on posting more!

  • Matthew, do you know of any equivalent Windows programs that would let you do something like that?

  • @mofous Try using Reaper. It's only $60 if you decide to continue using it and it has some cool features!

  • Thank you! very useful video *gets to covering Dream Theater - These walls*

about 3-4 FX changes in first minute!

  • There is a way to change those CC MIDI names, using a LogicCCNaming bundle* / SIMBL from 4 years back... it works in Logic 8/ PPC/10.5, but not Logic 9/Intel/10.6 : / ... [sounds like you have some knowledge of coding? hint hint ; ) ]

*search the logicprohelp site for LogicCCNaming bundle (sorry-Youtube won’t let me post a link)

  • Hmmm you raise a good question. I've not thought about how you could control all the elements you would want using a plug in. A quick and dirty way would be to have an automated aux for the effect and record the changes etc. I shall mull this over and see what I can come up with. You raise an interesting point! Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for the fast response, I'll def subscribe.! Would this work with VST/RTAS plug-ins rather than having to have a piece of hardware? I have protools with a million plug-ins that I would prefer to use rather than the TC
