Danfan the song does date back to an earlier song but it wasn't a Jacobite song. It is based on a vehemently anti-Jacobite song. Burns in this song turns it more into an anti-war song. Still blaming the Jacobites for the conflict but taking out all the anti-Jacobite rhetoric of the original. Good version though!
