  • i think im going to have to buy the dvd set and do my basement. you're a pretty good teacher.

  • @amusingisthedawn Thanks I appreciate that! I love to help homeowners finish their basements!

  • Nice video. Why do you toenail into the crossover pieces instead of just nailing from the outside of the ladder into the crossover pieces?

  • @tdpisme Because the wood is 3 1/2" thick from the outside of the bottom of the ladders to the cross-over pieces and the nails are not long enough to make it through that distance, so we "toe-nail" the cross-over framing. I hope this helps:)

  • Thanks! I plan on uploading a lot more of these basement training videos over the next few months. Check back from time to time.

  • 2"x4"'s are a lot more solid when nailed up in ladder form + they do not warp and bow as easily which in the long-run will crack-out your drywall corners. Hope this helps.

  • I just started my basement project and your videos are very helpful. I've done alot of on line searching and yours are the best I've seen. Thanks for doing them!!!!

  • great work on the videos, they have been helping me a lot. I am about to start framing in my ductwork. I was wondering if I could save some cost and use 2x2" instead of 2x4"? I don't see why not, but there may be a reason that I don't know of.
