The Wyman Center in St. Louis is a youth development organization that prepares youth from disadvantaged circumstances to lead successful lives.
Missouri State University began building a partnership with the Wyman Center in order to fulfill their shared goals of providing educational opportunities for youth across the state. In July 2009, the Wyman Scholars endowment was born to assist graduates of the Wyman program as they pursue their college degree.
Missouri State covers all tuition costs through the Missouri State Promise Scholarship and other financial aid, while Wyman covers room and board, so that these students may graduate with little to no college debt. To maintain the scholarship, students must maintain a certain non-academic standard, as well as keep a 2.75 GPA.
Tonight we honor the three recipients of the Wyman Scholars endowment: Kenneth Harding, Evey Eschbacher, and Emily ODonnell. And on the court to congratulate tonight's honorees is Vice President of Student Affairs, Earle Doman. Ladies and gentlemen, please acknowledge the work of these scholars at Missouri State. They are in the Bancorp South Academic Spotlight.
