@P0Jntxoog its not true. it only a small part of our culture. Now days it is not common no more.

@yokoyamazki one day when you are a parents, you'll understand why they did what they did.

Generations are changing for the better. Don't worry about it too much, unless your folks are truly old fashion.

arranged marriage is not really a big deal in our culture. only certain families practice that. it is based on people and their choices. some parents are more strict and some are not. but overall, it usually comes down to the two people who are going to marry each other. if they don't like each other, they need to speak out and express themselves instead of listening to parents because in the end it's their lives.

Marriage in the Hmong culture is a family decision made by the parents and relatives. It is not an individual decision made by the people in love. It has been this way for centuries. Although the practice is slowly changing, arranged marriages are still a large part of Hmong society.

Parents after parent don't really understand...they wait until you guys prove it out that they really do love each other...that's when they'll say "i'm sorry dear i never knew that you guys truly love each other...if we have known we'll let you guys marry" they'll regret it by then it's too late...i would have done the same thing those two did...
