I just bought my first surf fishing rod and am very new to fishing. I bought a Penn SSm and looking to fish in Santa Barbara. What type of hooks and baits should I be using.

Can you give recomendations on a srarter kit of the lures is should get for So. Cal. Try to be as specific as you can. What sizes colors and styles of lures would you reccomend a guy starting out fishing should have.
