Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) can be diagnosed with the Dix Hallpike test. The typical features of posterior canal BPPV are geotrophic torsional+upbeating nystagmus after a period of a short latent phase, fatigue phenomenon and reversal of the nystagmus after returning to the sitting position. However, horizontal (Roll test) and anterior canals must be routinely tested in all cases.
