Surprisingly, not very hard at all. This particular model of printer has the distinct advantage that it is VERY balanced in its interior space left/right. The hardest part was remembering/looking up the USB pinout and soldering up the port to a USB extension cord appropriately; the rest was just busy (smelly) work with a hacksaw, file, and Sharpie marker. If you want I can PM you a link to the build pages, it took an afternoon or two plus an updating line following array some time later.
ah yes and its original USB port, when plugged into a computer, will show a 2 GB storage drive called PrinterBot containing complete photo documentation of its metamorphosis from printer to printerbot, along with a link to the site showing the build. Also I thought it would be fun to put an inordinate amount of storage onboard and completely hidden, sort of like a ninja courier bot for those days
It drives around either remote control or using the limit switches at the end of the abridged paper tray as "whiskers". I don't think I have a video yet but one will be forthcoming sometime... my camera died a horrible, horrible sensor death so a new one is on the way :-/
Being at a college it's great for parking in a hall Friday nights and effectively going "boo". Yes, I'm a nerd.

That's so cool! Good idea putting a flash drive on it, I would've never thought of that! How hard was it to build?
PS I'm a nerd too. I love vex.
