Origami: Hexagon Box Base
Designed by: Tomoko Fuse
Made by: Heather
----------
Today's origami lesson is one hundred and ten in the series. Today we continue making containers and boxes. Today we will start a new kind of box, the hexagon. This box has six sides. The folds are very similar but you have to get one fold at the right angle to make the hexagon. This is the base of the box to be used with the other lid designs to come.

  • I've tried to fold this base several times, but every time after putting the pieces together there remains a hole in the middle of the box. Do you have any suggestions?

  • @hase84183 These modular boxes have that problem. If you are super careful and very exact you will get a box that fits together nearly perfectly. If you keep getting that small little hole in the middle I might suggest gluing the pieces together at their most snug position to keep things from relaxing. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching!

  • can you show us how to make an origami knob box by Jorge E. Jaramillo? I tried making it once but it was incredibly hard to understand. There was a tutorial of it but I got stuck half-way through.

  • @mmt365 Thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to my list of suggestions and try to get to it when I run out of ideas for themes. That box looks cool and I would like to try to make it sometime. Thanks for watching!

  • @happypuppytruffles Thank you so much for your answer! So I tried the base again and spent much time on it. Now it's much better. I think that my parts did not have exactly the right angle before. Btw. Your tutorials are awesome!

  • i got stuck at 4:45 dammit!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you - its working now and i have managed to learn how to make this model. is there any way one can make a pentagonal shape in the same manner ??? dont seem to find any video on how to make this shape with several pieces of paper. i've seen the one where one folds a rectangular sheet to make a pentagonal shape but no video to make with many pieces of paper.
