@alexdude1991 I don't think he did, I think he just realised he's in a position to raise awareness about the issue, and I think, frankly, that anyone who does what he did is very admirable - even if they didn't get there first!

That will be the day when they show these things on television. More people should see how all animals are treated before they get to their table.

it was exciting writing and making Welcome to the Battery (that line still gives me the shivers) but the excitement grew and grew. The film was booked for cinema nationally but Rank pulled the plug on it after pressure from the NFU and the Ministry of Agriculture. It ran once, i saw it on a big screen in Leicester Square - It got a standing ovation. Then it went ballistic across breakfast tv, and then the indy cinemas picked it up. This was back in 1988 - great to read good reviews 22 years on.

Amazing ad - very '1984' too, and just a bit eerie.

I was worried they might cut a chicken's head off and use it as a puppet saying the slogan. Thankfully, they kept it subtle. If only today's information films, which are all style and absolutely no substance, were as effective as this.

wow, what a powerful piece of film. Anthropomorphising a subject always makes it harder hitting and the sinister, almost Orwellian, overtones are compelling! Well done whoever made this!!!!

It's actually not a TV ad, it's made for cinemas. Imagine sitting in a movie theatre and that guy starts explaining that you're f***ed on the screen.
