  • @Kirke182 Yeah one of the earlier comments here cleared that up, I think. I know Trixie recorded it at various times, with various back ups, and even with various lyrics. I was just giving the info I had in the CD insert, which as you probably know isn't always correct. Thanks for your comment.

  • @killerdillr yes this is the first song to use the term "rock and roll". It was slang for sex. Google it.

  • Sidney Bechet on clarinet

  • @oldtimejazzfan Thanks, I wasn't sure who the musicians were in most of these songs I have from that time period, just the singers.

  • @leanannsidhe The full personnel is Charlie Shavers tp, Bechet cl, Sammy Price p, Teddy Bunn g, Richard Fullbright b, O'Neil Spencer dr, recorded May 26 1938.

  • @oldtimejazzfan The two CDs that I have are supposed to be Vol 1 1922-1924 and Vol 2 1925-1929. I did read though where she recorded a session with Sidney Bechet in 1938. I guess the CDs are labeled wrong.? There are two versions of this same song on this CD so I wonder then how many of the other songs are from that 1938 session. Anyway, thank you for the information. :)

  • @bonzoreva Actually the title to this song is My Daddy Rocks Me. Trixie also did a song called My Man Rocks Me, that has basically the same chorus, though the rest of the song is different. I'll put it up later, the quality of it just is not all that hot.

  • I learned about this song in my college History of Rock and Roll class.

  • @leanannsidhe This is definitely not the early 20s. I heard that this song was originally recorded in 1922 but it could not have been an electric recording and this version definitely is.

  • To people who don't know. This song recorded in 1922, is the first song that uses the term Rock and Roll in his lyrics. Rock and roll were terms, used in the 1920's by the afro americans to express dancing, partying and sex.

  • HER MAN KNOWS HOW TO REALLY ROCKS HER WITH HIS STEADY ROLL.

  • No it is not. The Boswell Sisters is said to be the first with "Rock and Roll" from 1934 . A song about a boat in the oecean. It is on youtube as well.

  • No, it is not. It is said to The Boswell Sisters with their song "Rock and Roll" from 1934 - that song is about a boat in the ocean.

  • The first Rock and roll song or not??

  • @piecharthosen I always wondered why Rock'n'Roll wasn't played on commercial radio... it might be because of its roots. Like here. This song is virtually pornographic. You could literally change the words Rock'n'Roll into Fucking music. Now I understand why Elvis was shot on TV, from the waist up when he shook his hips. All those christians in sexual denial must have been fuming (lol)
