@xeronicus I know a few countries in Eastern Europe which would have preferred to speak German than to live 40 years under the soviet shadow. I wouldn't give the Russians too much credit, they didn't do it out of the greatness of their hearts.

NATO equip isn't that better in truth, the USA's latest gen aircraft are failing & f22 cancelled, sukhoi su27actually better. current models of each side never go head to head, its ancient soviet equip we see being demolished in places like iraq. conflicts in russian republics not conventional wars, against small mobile forces in difficult terrain & cities, this worst environ for conventional armies - just like afganistan for NATO...

If not for the russian winter, i have a strong belief that alot more places in the world would be speaking german.
The russians did alot more in the war than most realize, and i respect that.
