There's no point in comparing this to Callas. Frankly, after hearing Callas there's not much point in listening to this either...

BRAVISSIMA !!!!!!!!!!!!

Aix-en-Provence of course, I have been listening to it, last row, close to the sky

her runs are also remarkably clean

@LeilogOpera I attended one of these exceptional performances, this was not in Pesaro but in Aix-en-Provence. I mean exceptional for the singers, really outstanding. As for the stage director, the audience kept shouting, laughing, booing (I have posted an audio clip here) This ridiculous staging and the reaction of the audience give even more credits to the performers, really professional and once again really exceptional for this work which is considered as minor (?) but requires top singers.

Five stars to Anderson, 0 stars to the stage director. Was he/she an amateur?

This was in 1988...there were better productions before, & are better ones today, too :)
@saverioorlando. Stop comparing everyone with Callas. Callas was awesome but she's DEAD!
Enjoy what you have. And June is GREAT here! Actually musically Callas is umparalleled. But June does an amazing job here and with a more pleasant tone than Callas.

Anderson has a much lighter voice than callas. Callas was (is) supreme in this role because of the dramatic power, musicality, and technical [vocal] perfection she gave it. This is definitely not a legendary performance but a very good rendition non the less.
