Intro to the amazon Kindle for ESL

Yeah, it's not cheap. It came out about a year ago and was $399 then. Now it is is down to $359. I believe it will keep dropping in price. Soon it will be $199 (maybe in a year or two...). At that price it will become more popular.

I just like the IDEA of the kindle. I think it is great for both teachers and students. I use mine every day.

its AMAZING! :) i understand all. so... its good idea, i think, good for us, comfortable.. and , i see you going to star teach more reading than before, right? good for new students. i even jealous

About more reading, well, no. We don't do a lot of reading in the classes. My classes, as you know, emphasize listening and speaking. But I think reading is also very important for ESL. So I encourage my students to read a LOT on their own. And the kindle can be a way to make it much easier to read.

OK, I don't know much about the Sony model. Kindle 2 though is now out and it has text to speech software built in so it can read books to you. Color would be nice if it doesn't kill the battery life.

sony doesnt make one in color. color e-ink is still in development, and wont be out for consumer purchase for at least another year or two.

I teach special education in California, and we have a ton of ELL learners in my class. Thanks for sharing...I really love using technology to get the most out of my students.
