  • @vxl788 3:19 These antennas, are these the radar stations?

3:23 Yes, England's great secret weapon.

3:25 Which we snatched at Dunkirk!

3:30 Our Stukas (Junkers JU-87) will deal with them.

3:33 Excuse me, Herr General, but why? If they over there know we're coming, the better! That's just what we want!

3:41 The pilots are of good cheer, Herr General.

3:43 I got eyes in my head, Osterkamp.

3:46 I just wanted to adumbrate, Herr General, we shouldn't wait too long.

  • Here some translations for those who don't understand any German. As already mentioned for Part 2, "XYZ, stillgestanden!" always means "XYZ, attention!"

2:41 Please, gentlemen, the Chief of Staff has just arrived!

2:56 Hey my dear Föehn, everything alright?

    2:58 Thank you, Herr General.

    2:58 And Falke?

2:59 Thank you, Herr General. May I introduce, sir, my brother Hans.

3:03 Probably another flying ace, hm?

3:05 If I just could try it soon, Herr General!

    3:09 This... we... borrowed it...

  • @NobleKorhedron About 200 out of 700 operational fighters on any day were Spitfires. The Hurricane was a match for the Me109, in this, a defensive role. Thus showing how it was inferior overall; 1:1 kill ratio against Me109s, when many of the best Spit squadrons could get up to 4:1

  • SUBTITLES YOU MGM BASTARDS!!!!! Thanks for the translations, from watching a lot of films over the period, Im starting to at least understand German, though I couldnt speak a lick of it.

  • Hmmm, 650 fighters - but how many of these were Spits? T.B.H, I've heard the Hurricanes weren't much of a match for the Me. 109 unless it was in the hands of an experienced pilot.

  • @vxl788: Danke!! I have done German but I am WAY too rusty for this!!

  • What happened to the english subtitles? Kinda wrecks the movie.

  • @wilmanric1

    Scottish Soldier.... Andy Stewart song.

  • That's got the be the WORST version of "Scotland the Brave" ever!

  • I can't stand that bimbo.

  • As for the German Naval code (codenamed Shark by the British), that was far more difficult as the encoding machine was based on 5 rotors, which made the mathematical side of cracking it a totally different proposition to Engima and, as correctly stated, it took until 1943 and the UK came so close to being under siege by the Kriegsmarine as a result, that almost the whole intellectual staff at Bletchley Park were devoted to cracking it.
