My Canon EOS 5D Mark II became wet during a walk in the rain today and something bad happened. Now I can't access any menus and the only thing that happens when I turn it on is that it starts shooting until the memory card is full unless I shut it off. Guess I need a repair. Too bad it can't stand rain better than this.

  • Just because it's working doesn't mean it's not in trouble. Have you taken it in for repair? I've had a D3s slow-killed by corrosion months after the suspected seal breach.

Go get it looked at, and treated for corrosion, asap.

  • @AlexAMVideos It works again after it dried up during the night. Fortunately. :-)

  • Isn't it supposed to have some weatherproofing?

  • @raoulpop Yes, it has some weatherproofing but not enough I guess. It's working again now after a dry night.

  • if you want weather sealing that actually works, olympus E5 or E3.

  • nikon weather sealing > canon

  • @wezzzor or just get a 1d.

  • try to dry it with Hare Dryer on the shutter button

  • Nice L-lense!

  • @hakandahlstrom you need to have a weather sealed lens with the body, or else it's no use

  • The 5D and 7D have good weather resistance, but not to the level of the 1D Mark IV, which is nearly waterproof. Of course, it's $4,999... If you really want it 100%waterproof, you'd have to add an Aquatech CC-14, which you can dive with. Another $1200.

  • Get an Olympus!

  • Olympus - The best of the best

  • go for OLYMPUS E 5 or even E 3 if you really want to have "real" weatherproof.

The only company that actually proves what the product could really do is only Olympus.

They stated the truth about their cameras, not some so called "weathersealing", which Canon and Nikon did.

Too bad olympus didn't have a great marketing department like Canon and Nikon had.

I must admit that olympus marketing plan is pretty ridiculous and strange.
