If singers YouTube views hit 500,000 within 10 days of launch party, buildings owners will make donation to a Detroit-area nonprofit
DETROIT, MICH., SEPTEMBER 2, 2009—Southfield, Mich. native and up-and-coming hip hop artist Katrina Carson recently had the opportunity to film her debut music video BEAUTIFUL at the historic Garden Court Condominium building (2900 E. Jefferson Ave.) in two all-day photo shoots. Now metro Detroiters can help this Michigan native skyrocket to the top of the music charts by attending the official video launch party at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17. The party will take place at Garden Court Condominiums (2900 E. Jefferson Avenue, Detroit).
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Katrina, enjoy an array of complimentary food and beverages and tour the building that helped to inspire the song and serve as the background for the video. In the 10 days after the launch (ending 11:59 p.m., Sunday, September 27), if the complete video has reached at least 500,000 views as measured by YouTube on Garden Court Detroits channel (GCDetroit), a donation will be made to The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, a non-profit entity committed to the beautification of Detroit.
This one of the most exciting times of my life. To see my vision become a reality is nothing less than amazing, said the 18-year-old Carson. I think weve captured the message of BEAUTIFUL. We found a truly beautiful setting at Garden Court and an ensemble of performers who were beautiful - both inside and out.
Nearly 40 local actors and actresses were on site at Garden Court Condominiums during the filming. BEAUTIFUL was written by Carson and is a song about feeling BEAUTIFUL inside and out, no matter who you are. The song is the follow up to YOU and has been played on FM 98 WJLB.

In addition to her work with P. Diddy, Ne-Yo and J. Holiday, Carson has opened shows for Al Hudson and One Way, the Contours, the OJays and performed on stage with The Whispers and Howard Hewitt. Garden Court Condominiums often is recognized as an example of famed architect Albert Kahns early work. This is not the first time the brick and limestone structure has appeared on film. Garden Court also served as the exterior of Martin Lawrences home during the 1980s on the popular television show Martin.

About the Director
The music video was shot by Detroiter Darren Brown of Dirty Mitten (DM) Films. Founded and developed under the vision of Brown and Dikea Taylor, DM Films is a full-service production company specializing in feature length projects, as well as short film and music video productions. While Brown has been making videos for years, his official debut film in 2006, Project 313, was met with much acclaim. Brown recently was nominated for Best Director at the Detroit Rap Awards.
